Why CBT?
Why I chose to align with Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy (CBT)
I was first drawn to CBT while working as a support worker. I helped people take what they were learning in therapy into their everyday lives, at their own pace and in ways that mattered to them. Sometimes that meant gradual steps towards difficult situations. Sometimes it meant trying a new way of responding. Now, as a therapist, I work with adults experiencing mild to moderate emotional difficulties, including anxiety, low mood and the pressures of life changes.
What I value most about CBT is how it brings collaborative understanding and action together. We explore what keeps a difficulty going, agree manageable steps, try them in everyday life and review what you discover. It creates space to pause and ask, ‘What is happening here, and what could we try?’
Together, we notice what helps, question what doesn’t, and adapt as we discover together. That’s why I describe Hawthorn Grove Psychotherapy as Therapy shaped around you. It’s important to me that you can be heard, refocus, and be confident.
