About
Why “Hawthorn Grove Psychotherapy?”
Why did I choose the name Hawthorn Grove?
When choosing a name for my practice, I wanted something that felt calm and inviting. I looked to my own back garden – a place that has long been my personal sanctuary.
My garden is home to a steady Hawthorn and tall Silver Birch, with a Weeping Willow and grand Deodar Cedar just beyond. Together, these trees create the peaceful, sheltered feeling of a grove that inspired the name Hawthorn Grove. Each of these trees holds personal meaning, because it is here that I have spent many hours in quiet reflection, and meaningful conversations with family and friends.
These trees, and the conversations that have taken place in their company, reflect the philosophy of peaceful shelter and growth behind Hawthorn Grove Psychotherapy.
Whether we meet by telephone or secure video call, I hope to offer a calm space to pause and speak openly. Together, we can work on building resilience and flexibility, and explore new beginnings at your own pace.
Select a tree below to discover what each one means to me, and how it connects to the work we might do together.
Birch and beginnings
The birch represents the possibility of a fresh start. That doesn’t mean leaving the past behind. It’s an invitation to explore what might come next.
Hawthorn and resilience
For me, the hawthorn represents finding ways to keep going through difficult seasons. A single hawthorn blossom also inspired the Hawthorn Grove Psychotherapy logo.
Willow and flexibility
I associate the willow with making room for different ways of responding to what life brings. It’s a gentle reminder that we don’t always need to hold everything rigidly in place.
Cedar and steadiness
The cedar represents steadiness through change. It reflects my hope that therapy can offer understanding and practical skills that keep supporting you long after our sessions end.
